hey there,

i have sonar 2 and sound forge 4.5.
Apart from adding effects and cutting and pasting, what do i need sound forge for?? I have recorded some stuff in sonar and i know that i am now supposed to take it to forge but i just dont know where to start or what to do?!?
I have done the cutting and pasting that i needed in sonar, please help.
C.

You probably don't need it for anything.

thanks,
but what aboiut all that raising levels stuff?
and what is 'normalising'? and all that jazz??
thanks,
C.

Sound Forge will allow you to do a little self mastering, add compression, eq, normalizing, etc. on a completed mix.

However, you can probably do it better in Sonar than in SF 4.5

Not that I'm not a fan - It is what it is. For quick razor editing, you can hardly compete with SoundForge. For making stuff sound good, it's up in the air.

thanks,

sooooo, normalising and compression is only done on completed mixes?? not on single tracks??(generally)..

Normalizing is almost never done, period. Compression is and can be done at every level from pre-input, to recording, to mixing, to mastering. It's a loooooooong story.
