I just read the review written by Dragon of Sound Forge XP and it sounds pretty good. It does'nt say anywhere how many tracks can be edited at the same time. I also went to their web site and it does'nt say there either. Can anyone here give me the answer to that?

If by tracks you are thinking that SoundForge is some sort of multitrack software, it's not. You can open and edit as many wav files at once as you have ram and virtual memory to handle, far as I know. If there is a limitation imposed by the XP version I'm not sure, but I use the full version and haven't heard anything about a file limit. However, they are separate wav files, and you will be playing back and recording them one at a time even though you could have 10 or more files open in separate windows. Sonic Foundry's multitrack software is Vegas Pro (and it's very good) if that is more along the lines of what you are looking for.

The reason I asked that question is that it looks like that in Cool edit Pro that you can have 16 audio tracks open in the same window, edit them together and listen how they sound together after editing. Is this possible with Sound Forge?
Also, is Vegas Pro similar to Cakewalk?

you cant multitrack with soundforge like you can in cool edit pro..

yes, vegas pro is similar to cakewalk , but yet really different in some aspects...they are both good multitrackers , but vegas is more user friendly..

i say this alot...

download all the demos of all the programs your interested in... its free , and nothing beats hands on expierience..
