why when i record bass or guitar, either directly to the computer or by microphoning the amp (then the mic goes directly to the computer) the sounds seems to fade away for no reason? the low frequencies loose their value, and it starts to sound like it had a phaser, even though there are no effects.

What sounds starts fading? The signal, or the rest of it?

This might sound stupid, but is there something in your signal chain that runs on batteries?

It sounds like the jacks may be dirty/corroded. Or it could be that the solder joints have been damaged/cracked from excessive wear and tear.

the rest of it.let's say, if i play the same note on the bass for like a minute, when i recorded only the first few seconds have a full sound, then suddenly it drops and the lows just go, leaving that phaser like sound., even the drawing of the wave on the screen becomes smaller. it all happens on its own.AND no, ha ha ha no batteries. cheers!!

it sounds as if the p.c was blocking the lows, as if it couldn't take them, making this happen.

thanx.

do you mean the ports on the p.c? it's when i record that the sounds looses its quality. it is weird. maybe the p.c jacks are damaged, if so how can i fix that? thanx

and also there is like a delay from the time i actually strike the note and the time that it actually sounds through the speakers. (the p.c speakers). thanks again.

Oh how I hate the fade

We are having the same issue where the recording fades in & out. It is driving us...ok...ME...driving ME crazy trying to solve the problem since I'm the only one that knows anything about our gear. Messed with it again last night and got to the point where I was ready to pour the gas & strike a match! So I feel your pain on that one.

The other problem you are having is a latency issue. Check out the Stealth Plug...it's just one solution to help you with that problem. You can go straight from guitar to a PC...with headphones in between so that you are hearing what you are playing realtime.

Or you can mess with drivers and what not...which becomes more difficult...but yet free to download.

Good luck & if you come up with a good solution to the fade problem...shoot me a message.

Rock on!

It made be a stability issue with your interface. Reboot your pc. Cold boot. Shutdown completely not a restart.

Also for your latency problem...try boosting up your buffering to like 256. If you buffer too slow then you will not hear things real time either.
