Sound effects and Samples?

Hey everyone,
I'm want to put some samples and sound effects into some songs of mine. I'm just wondering if anyone has some info on how I should mix them in.

Just make them sound good. Theres no rule, really. Dont make them too loud. Treat them kinda like vocals I suppose, unless theyre going on behind a vocal part.
