Hello Everyone,

We just purchased a Sound Devices 302 and 702 for use in capturing
audio while shooting video using a Canon 5D MK II.

We are also using Sennheiser G2 Wireless Lav's as the mic source.

We plan on connecting our G2 to the 302, and the 302 into the 702 for
the master audio.

We'd also like to run a signal from the 302 into the 5D MK II as a sync
track for use in post.

Understanding that there are different sources, levels (MIC, LINE,
etc.), etc., please help us understand the best way to connect this
audio chain, particularly related to the cables we'll need.

For example, we can't go 302 XLR OUT to 702 XLR IN because we need
to reduce the level of the 302 XLR OUT to mic level for the 5D Mk II MINI IN.

Thanks in advance.

Gregory

Adapters and in line db pads are most likely to be your best friends on this one.

In thinking this through a little more based upon your input, couldn't we do this:

1. G2 > 302: MINI/XLR
2. 302 to 702: TA3/XLR
3. 302 to 5D: XLR/MINI

Also, in what circumstances is it critical that we match balanced to balanced, un-balanced to un-balanced connections? I see this mentioned quite a bit in the device port descriptions, i.e., balanced XLR input, etc..

Thanks again.

G.
