OK YOU GUYS
I'M NEW TO THIS THING, SO I APOLOGIZE FOR ANY DUMB QUESTIONS BUT HEY I'M I GOT ALL MY EQUIPMENT SET UP.
I GOT A MOTIF 8 HOOK UP TO A BEHRINGER, IT GOT A AMD PROCESSOR RUNNING IN MY COMPUTER, WINDOWS 98 AND I'M USING CAKEWALK
MY QUESTION IS THIS AND I HOPE YOU GUYS CAN HELP ME , BECAUSE I'VE BEEN BREAKING MY HEAD WITH THIS.
I GOT EVERYTHING SET UP. MY INFO IS ALREADY IN MY PC AND AND I KNOW NOW I HAVE TO COME BACK OUT TO MY MOTIF TO GET THE VOICES AND I DID ALL OF THAT , BUT WHEN I TRY CONVERTING MIDI INTO AUDIO I GET CRAP , I CHECKED ALL THE INPUTS AND OUTPUTS THEY ARE OK
I THINK THE PROBLEM IS HOOKING UP MY MIXER TO THE SOUND CARD BUT IM NOT SURE.
HOPEFULLY YOU GUYS CAN GIVE ME SOME FEEDBACK
I WOULD APRECIATED IT

THANKS

MUSICMAN

Hello there.
Don't Panic.

What do you mean with "converting MIDI to Audio" Exactly?

You have a MIDI sequence in Cake. Ok. Then assign the PORT to the one which represents your MIDI interface, so it can communicate with the MOTIF alloing it to actually PLAY the MIDI events cake is sending it.

Is this being done well?

Yeah, what exactly do you mean by converting midi into audio? If you be specific, we can definitely help you!

sorry guys

i' already communicate motif to cake walk now all i want to do is record the sounds to my computer so i can burn it to a cd.
i know its got to be a connection problem to the sound card

question: I connect IN to the sound card from Out from my mixer right?

Ok, things are not as bad as I was thinking :D

IF you are connecting your sound card DIRECT to the Powered (or not) monitors, YES.

I don't want to think you're connecting your sound card's output to the mixer AND the Mixer's output to the Sound Card... :P

Now.. in CakeWalk in the SOURCE Column, select the proper source (audio) which could be left / right / audio 1...n / or Stereo Input from... AND in your PC's "mixer" select the AUDIO IN as the record source to activate it.

Try it and let us know.

I think the issue is he is not recording the audio from the motif.

You have to record the audio tracks also. Midi is not audio.

There is nothing wrong with running the sound card outputs to the mixer. Just be sure to mute them while tracking.

YES THAT IS THE PROBLEM

I'M NOT RECORDING AUDIO FROM THE MOTIF

AND YES I'M CONNECTING MY SOUNDCARD'S OUTPUT TO THE
MIXER (BUT I CONNECTECTED IT TO A CHANNEL AND MUTED) AND the Mixer's output to the Sound Card

WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY RECORDING THE AUDIO TRACKS ALSO?
