how do I hook up my sound card so that I can hear the files through my monitors? 1/8" out from the speaker jack to what? rca in, two mono 1/4" plugs to two seperate channels? I need some help please.

What monitors do you have? What plugs does it have on the back? What soundcard do you have?

Tukkis

Im guessing the monitors are 1/4 in.
And the soundcard is one 1/8 stereo out.
So, a jumper with one 1/8 to 2 1/4 inch should work.
Check radio shack or music store.

I think I wasnt very clear. I have a behringer board running adats and monitor twos. I have ADAT Edit but I want to monitor what I do in Sound Forge on my monitors not crappy computer speakers....do I run out of my sound card into my board? If so ...where on the board...and what cord to use?

thanks

I've got the same setup as yours.
Now I'm running my adat into PC through the Adat/EDIT PCR, then I go into cubase and from here out again to my soundblaster ad to monitors.
My next step is to change the soundblaster with a MIA or DELTA44.
SB has unbalanced 1/8 outputs while mia and delta has balanced 1/4 which are way better.

thanks rocknwolf...2 questions...when you go out of your sound card do you go into your board again? I know that sound card cant possibly push my monitors. Next thing is...I'm haveing problems with my sound card...I knocked my new Dell back to winME and the Soundblaster 5.1 is not compatible. So in turn I have to get a sound card that is! Any suggestions in this case? What sound blaster card do I get? Dell said to get SB Live1024 but I cant find it anywhere....I would buy it from Dell but they put me on hold for 30min and I hung up.

I go back into my board in two unused channels panned hard R and hard L. That way you have control of the volume on your board as well.

What sound blaster card do you get?

In my opinion I wouldn't buy a soundblaster, but something "more professional".
I'm going to change my sb live! with an echo mia or a delta44.
these two cards have 1/4 balanced outputs and other cool features that should improve our equpment.
