does any use the mic preamps on their sound card. most poeple usually use a mic pre amp to line in on their sound card right? so why do sound cards even have mic pre amps?

Yes, I use the pres built into my Aardvark Q10. The recordings hear are just using those built in pre amps, no external preamps.
