Sound Card Input Help

I have 3 1/8" inputs on my sound card and then one something-pin input. The 1/8" inputs are colored, red, green, and black. My speakers only work in the green. I used to have a mic in another one but it is gone now. SO what I am getting at is I have an adapter that changes a 1/4" into an 1/8" so which input do i plug it into like if I wanted to go with ym guitar straight into the card? Any help is helpful.

You'll want to plug your guitar into the black jack.

It has been my experience with computers that...

green = (stereo) speaker output
red = mic input
black = (stereo) line level input

You can also plug it into the red jack for a higher response.

If I'm wrong look into your computer or sound card's manuals for further assistance.
