I currently own a Terratec DMX-6Fire sound card that is starting to crap out.
I am looking to replace it with possibly the SB X-Fi Platinum system.

I need a card that has an I/O module that will replace my Terratec one in the front of my Computer bay.

The specs mention that it has 2 mini midi in and outs. What is a "mini" midi?
Is it a different plug from the standard midi?

If anyone owns one of these could you please share the pros and cons? Thank you.

Pin's right... you want gaming audio, then you buy SB stuff -- you want to do audio production of any sort, then get a real audio interface.....

If you're thinking 1820, then get the 1820M (the M model provides higher quality converters which should provide for better sound overall). I still think you can do better in regards to a new card. From what I've been reading here and elsewhere on the Net, the 1820M apparently sounds terrific but the drivers still need work and the PatchMix seems to be causing major headaches for users.

I haven't used one, but when I was looking for something new, what I read made me explore other options. You could always search here and see what others had to say.

Good luck!

Thanks for the warning. I really would like something similar to the I/O module my Terratec has. It also would be inconvenient to have to plug anything into the back of the module. I don't have the space near my computer to have an external piece of hardware. I would rather have the Midi in and out in front of the module.
I don't do any computer recording. I use my DAW and Alesis Masterlink for that. I just need this sound card for midi and playback. Any other suggestions? Thanks.
