Sound Blaster Sound Card = MPC

well...not exactly! But I was told by my friend that you can store samples in different banks and trigger them with an external controller (midi).

Has anyone tried this technique?

now i gotta get my PC back from my dad!!!

(have the imac now)

maybe i can convince him to let me have the best of both worlds.
 
Are these soundfonts only available for Soundblaster....

Or do they have a similiar technology for any soundcard?

SB Live and Audigy (and their older brother the AWE) are probably the most popular soundcards that use SoundFont technology. I believe it was developed in conjunction with Emu. But, AFAIK, it's a SoundBlaster / Creative / Emu thing.

I know there is a 'soft synth' called LiveSynth that will let you load up SoundFonts as a DXi plugin in Cakewalk's SONAR.
