...I've been on this board for some time and I have way less than 1000 posts... reason is I read a lot more than I write... not flaming at all but IMO guys that have thousands of posts in a very short period aren't into learning or advancing... if one has a lot to say about everything, then generally they say little about a lot...
There are a few I really admire here, Harvey, Sonusman (Sometimes he a bit abrasive), others and you because you stick to your guns about what you like and don't belittle others in doing it. I generally don't agree with your assessments, but that's why I like your posts.
It feels like a lot of adolesent mindsets have joined lately.
Sonixx – You nailed it!
Funny how this situation has affected many of us the same way. I was lying awake last night thinking about just getting the heck off here for a while. Seems like I spend more time reading through crap and/or trying to counter the spreading of misinformation through someone’s inexperienced conjecture than I spend with my own family, and something’s wrong with that picture. And if that isn't bad enough, a few others will follow up in a supportive manner for the one(s) spreading all the conjecture!
To them I say this: You’re shooting yourself AND us in the foot, because the people we need to have contributing here simply will NOT hang in this type of an environment very long. I think it’s a real shame too, because there’s some great talent here we could all learn from. But like the overhead mics/techniques that Sonixx spoke of, we’ll never learn about it because of all the crap-slinging and immature attitudes.
The moderator could crack down on some of this nonsense if he wanted to, but it’s really up to him, depending on the type of forum he wants.
On one hand, there are some forums that I absolutely refuse to visit because the moderator does too much editing for my taste. That is, threads are edited and post are deleted to put a certain slant on the information given – kind of like the editing Hitler did. For example, long ago in a faraway land, there was a thread on this one forum where the designer of a mic posted and admitted a certain flaw in the mic’s design (for the record, it wasn’t an SP mic

). Later, I went searching for the post only to find it had mysteriously disappeared. Could it have been because the moderator just happened to be a dealer for that particular mic?
On the other hand, it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to realize when someone’s motives are of a mud-slinging nature rather than a learning/teaching one, especially when considering their background and history of motives. To that, the moderator could take some action.
Simply put, I love helping others and I love learning stuff. But, when I consider having to wade through mud and harassment to accomplish either one of these, it just isn’t worth it. So, I’ve decided to do this for the time being: When certain people start posting to a thread with even the slightest sliver of wrong intent, I’m out of there and will no longer participate in that thread. Stiff rules for myself, I know, but this extreme will keep me from getting riled up and wasting my time with useless typing (and I hope that’s not what I’m doing here

).
BTW, if you want an example of a very friendly, mature, helpful, and purely constructive forum where everyone hangs their egos and ungrateful attitudes on the door post, go over to RO and visit
Tech Talk. The folks on that forum are without a doubt, the most considerate of anyplace I’ve been.
