I need a sequencer and a synth for hip-hop and r&b, but am unsure of which to buy first. I already have lots of samples so would it be logical to buy the mpc or should I go for the synth and hold off on the mpc?

where are you keeping the samples? on a sample CD?
at any rate, get a sampler so you can start making use of those samples.
you can play synth keyboard sounds through a sampler, but you can't play samples through a synth keyboard.

Yep, get yourself a sampler. You cant go wrong with the MPC. There's also the Triton, ASR-X, ASR-10, Motif, EPS 16+........a whole lotta choices.
Hey crosstudio, dont you have the ASR-X? How do ya like it? Right now I have the EPS 16+ and was thinking about switching to more of a drum machine style. I know about the MPC series but have never messed around with the ASR-X.
