i do love smilies...
but i don't get it. i come and have a noodle around the bottom end of HR.com (:D:p), just to see what's going on down 'ere, and remind myself that midi hasn't Always existed, and that audio hasn't always been in 1's and 0's (even though i could never afford all the equipment/have the space to do it myself.)

and i keep on thinking, that while it's all very nice, and the pictures of all the equipment are fun. that they're all very Very old looking. and it got me wondering, whether anyone is making new analogue recorders - brand new, out of the box, shiny 24 track reel-to-reel machines. i've never seen them, Anywhere, if they do. and i have looked. but am i just being thick? or is everything in 'that' realm going to be second hand from now on?

ta :)

Though I can't see it from your point of view, I couldn't help but think the "very VERY..." is a little much maybe. I mean didn't they just stop making alot of these multitrack tape deck in the late 90s? Unless that's very VERY old to you. :D

I am afraid that at some point everything in that realm will become "first hand by your hands to your hands" :(

Wow, those are pretty compact and sleek looking. I could fit one of THEM in my apartment. Still, too costly and too much to maintain for one dude.
I'm a fellow apartment dweller and I made room for a 16 track one inch TASCAM that takes up about the same footprint as the Studer as far as floor space goes.

I guess the real question is, can a home recording enthusiast justify the expense of buying a brand new 24 track, which is in the same price range of a lower end Mercedes Benz?

Only your wallet and your conscience can decide! :D

Cheers! :)

I don't have a conscience so I guess it's my wallet deciding. :D
