I agree - my VAIO is a 2.4 machine but runs slower than my old 770 mhz machine.

Also, I have purchased several Sony products over the years and they just don't hold up.

Have you tried doing a complete reload? Like right from scratch? I don't have that system, but when I bought my Celeron 900 it performed like a pig. Once I blew away Windows XP and reloaded it with 2000 pro it started performing WAY better!

Also (if you haven't already) kill any and all background processes you can after the boot up is done... alot of times there's crap running in the background that you just don't need.

For example: yer not online if you're doing recording, kill all virus programs and chat programs yahoo and IM etc... they take up alot more resources than ya'd think...

I figgered someone would. I was thinking Microsoft...

...I think i like Sony better.

So now:
SF=Sony
Logic=Apple
Steinberg=Pinnacle

smaller and smaller playing field. Should be interesting.

Daf (thinking a joke about the yellow acid would be really tasteless right about now)

You forgot about Adobe buying Syntrillium! hehehe

Who's gonna buy Cakewalk, Panasonic or Macromedia?

I don't welcome Sony. In the "old" days (before about 8 years ago) they were the gold statndard for electronics. But in the past 3 years especially they have been hurt by cost-cutting, and it has decimated their customer support. From what I read on the web, customer support & service for their televisions and HDTVs has been virtually eliminated.
