Sony CD Recorder Question

Hey, I have a Sony RCD-W3 recorder with dual drawers, but only one records.

My question: why is there a scratchy sound every half-second or so when I use high-speed duplication to copy a CD? I'm using TDK music CD-R's, so the medium probably isn't the problem.

I also have a Sony dual well cd recorder & ran into similar problems. Whenever I record from an outside source into the analog inputs I hear distortion from the "B" (record) deck every so often when I play it back. I don't hear it during the record process. I originally thought I was overdriving the inputs even though the meters were not peaking. I ended up recording the same matrial at several different volume levels, from very low to very hot, & still ended up w/distortion. I figured I already wasted a cd so I finalized it. When I play this cd back on either the "A" or "B" decks after finalizing no distortion at all, even at the hottest level I recorded. There is no distortion at all when played back on other sytems as well. Have you tried finalizing & playing it on other systems?

distortion

I have finalized and played back, and it's still there. It's not really a distortion kind of sound, it's more like a small scratchy sound that happens every time the cd revolves, three times per second or so. It didn't show up when I duplicated at normal speed, only on high-speed dupes.

This happens to me when I burn at high speeds (16x) on my Computer, but only on opaque white Verbatim disks.

No problem when I use Taiyo Yudens.

Same exact sound.

One Difference though, the scratching is only on tracks 7 or 8 and higher, and gets worse with each track, until the last two tracks or so won't even play.

stupid coaster oven!!!

hmmm

Ok, you're right about tracks 7 and 8 getting worse from there on out.

I'll try different cd's.
