Ed, it's a pretty good mix, but you can't expect mircales if you're using a mackie mixer, plugins, and fake guitar. Oh, and those canned drums aren't fooling anybody.

haha I've ALWAYS wanted to say that to you!!! Welcome to shitsville my man! :)

Thanks for the tune, Ed. It is pretty funny, though it sounds good enough from a home recording point of view. Except the drums.

And why did you use the J Station for bass? It sounds OK, I suppose, but too clean. I typically run mine in through the Art MP.

I'd love to hear what you come up with for drum samples. It will probably take a good bit of time to do, so I think you are justified in charging for the CD as long as it sounds good and useable. I'm quite curious to hear what you come up with.

Take care,
Chris

Ed...I love it...tune your gtr down to D and "chomp" away...
Don't you live jus' north of Ca?....and supposed to sound like EVH?:D

Bruce...I don't hear any 'high end' in your clip..cept the vocals, maybe. (listening to the drums, specifically) It sounds like a nice enough mix, but like thru a 12k low pass filter.....and dry too;) ...where's 'dose lexis??

It's all there -- it is supposed to be a bit dry, there is verb on the Hammond... some on guitar, and a blend on the vocal....

I don't understand why you say there's no high-end... that mix translates well everywhere I've played it - even on cheap-ass computer speakers! There's plenty of highs in there - even my Klark-Teknik DN-60 says so! ;)

Did you accidently patch-in the high-shelf set to -15db??? :D

well...cheap-ass computer speakers wouldn't play back any high end now...eh?;)

I'll take your word for it...but I noticed it on the HH, snare, especially. Must be my personal preference to really hear those "shimmer". ...that's they way I like it...but not maybe the preference of others. The vocals sounded crispy (in a good way), however.

Thank-U sonus-my-man! You have just re-inforced my decision
to stay away from pc-based recording!:D
The song was cool,a tad harsh on gits, but what you did with what little you had was exceptional!
Yo' Ed, please stay with the out-board gear!!! We out-boarders
are a dying breed!!!!:)

Incidently -- I didn't track any of that -- I just mixed it, the song tracks being supplied. I agree the drums were a bit HF-impaired, but it also added to the character of the track....

This was one of the working mixes I did - I still liked it 'cos it was smoother -- it's not my final version though.

Woot!! Ed Mustaine - Symphony of Homrecording

Who the fuck gave you those suck-ass drumsamples, Ed? :o

Bruce.. that sounds SWEET!!! Now I know you walk the walk ;) :D :D

sonusman,

Sounded good. I'd like to hear that first song when it's finished. The second was real good too. Professional. The more of these recordings I listen to, the less they sound like they were done at home. I am not a pro or anything, but it sounded good to my ears. I agree with the drum comments about the first song, but I think it will still sound good with vocals.'

peace.

a request for "BLUE BEAR SOUND"

BLUE BEAR,

I listen to everything I see by you because I know it's going to be serious sounding. This 'Mixfest' clip is no exception. It sounds dam near perfect over here. I read some of your comments about other peoles songs and you have very "tell it like it is" commentary. I would appreciate it much if you have the time to critique one of my songs because I'm sure you could give me some tips that will help. Its in the clinic here if you have the time.

Thanks in advance.

I actually liked the drums.

The guit sounded nice, but covered.

good job, sonusman

well...that's standing your ground like the Blue Bear I know around here:D

Seriously, damn fine tune...and don't let [ticket A:D] people like me tell you otherwise.

Hey, btw, ...I'd appreciate a couple comments [especially yours] on any of the other stuff I have floating around here in the clinic. I can't seem to get many people's interest in any of it....just a couple seem to take the time

Mixmkr and B.Sabbath....

I listened to a clip from each of you and posted on it in their respective threads!
