Just wanted to post to tip people off if they've not seen it: Sonimus have a great freeware EQ plug-in called SonEQ that's cross-platform, and I've been getting great results with it on a number of my Mix Rescue remixes. (Before any mods get worried, I have no affiliation whatsoever with Sonimus!) Apparently the low band is modelled on the Pultec, while the upper bands are modelled on the API 550, and that seems to tally with my experience. There are hi/lo filters built in and a great two-stage saturation function too (which is switchable to give you a clean/fuzzy option).
But most of all, it just sounds great. A really nice all-purpose freeware analogue-style EQ.
