Songs with a different sound

Was home alone for a little bit so I recorded these on a cold voice... criticism wanted. Not sure if I like this sound on my voice as much.

Did you record on the same laptop mic? Funny.... sounds better today. Especially on A-Team.

I wonder if this mic has a built in gate, because that's what it certainly sounds like.

Anyway, you're singing is very good. You're one of the better singers here, in my opinion. I've always noticed that any girl that shows up on this forum is pretty good at singing....
 
I sat close to the mic this time, seemed to make a good difference. But I actually just ordered the mic you suggested!

And thank you. I was wondering, should I work on adding more of a rasp or try this a key lower or something? I feel like my tone sounded better in the clip I posted yesterday. I'm just trying to find a "sound" for myself.
 
I'm not much of a singer. I can tell you what's good and what isn't good. I can sometimes tell why it's bad, as you saw in the "Hallelujah" thread. I don't know where you could go, honestly. Have fun and experiment!

And that's cool that you bought the mic! I think it comes with software but if you don't have a MAC with Garageband, Audacity will work! Audacity is DAW, a program you could use to record.
 
Oh I heard your Hallelujah cover, you aren't bad! I'll just keep trying out different sounds.

And yeah I've used audacity before for french class. I'm sure I'll be on here with all sorts of questions about the mic when i get it haha :)
