songs load into ram?

hi all i have 2 hd. one for apps. dive c hs2002 is on this drive dive d is where i write audio to when opening hs2002 a blue status bar says loading stereo audio data. where is it loading to. if its into ram whats the sense of having two drives thanx. tnt

Nope, it streams audio-data from your harddrive. When loading, it loads audio-clips, midi-clips, effects, effect settings, virtual instruments, virtual instruments settings, project settings and so on, and it takes some time...

Effects, effect settings, virtual instruments, virtual instruments settings, project settings and so on is of course loaded to memory, but the audio is streamed from disk.

just to make sure you won't be confused: the audio itself is not loaded to memory, only the intructions of what file to read from your hd + what effects apply to it.

after you hit 'play', it's just like moskus said.
