I use my CD Expanded VS-880 for sound recording of the P.A. at weddings. The problem that I have is that the "helpful" sound engineer at the church turned off my 880 without saving the song. I.E. the entire wedding audio is well.."gone". The question is, it gone for good or is there someway to recover it. Being that the 880 is really at it's heart a P.C. with A/D's and a hard drive I'm guessing no. The data is on the drive without question there's just no record in the "FAT" table to identify it's location. "Hey buddy I shut down your machine there as you were just recording dead air there at the end". Yeah thanks. Can I get the song back or is it gone forever and ever amen?

Thanks,

Bob

As far as I understand a Roland VS studio, thou art screwed. I'm sure God will forgive you for whatever you do to the so-called engineer.-Richie

It is your duty as a human being to help thin the herd and thus ensure a more fit society to kill this idiot. When you turn off the VS properly it prompts you if you want to save. So if he did the shutdown right he would have had to tell it yes or no. I'm sure he just hit the power button, which, like a computer, will leave you screwed. That truly bites. I feel your pain...

Yeah that's pretty much what I thought. I'm a videographer part time and use the 880 to get better sound. When left alone it's a great tool but for some reason, I don't know if it's the blinking lights or what, church sound engineers are just attracted to it. Last year I came back to the 880 after the ceremony to have the guy say,"I noticed you were peaking so I adjusted your input levels."...So that would be why the levels are pegged and the red lights are screaming. Yeah thanks Jimmy you're really "helpful". I'm just going to have to create a sign that says "Leave my machine the F*ck alone!" Anyway thanks for the update.

Thanks,

Bob
