excellent mate, would not change a thing, "i've got dreams to remember, i've got days to forget" killer line.

it is riddled with rufus references. helps sell CDs. :) if someone asks who you sound like it's better to have something clear and concise that they can relate to then say "uhh...well we don't sound like anyone, we're unique, it's sort of rock and poppy". they aren't going to pursue it any further. if they hear a band in there they like then they may give it a chance. it's just good marketing.

thanks for your responses!

I was going to post Ticket to Ride sucked, then I thought it was better than my crap copy-version from 15yrs ago..and its not nice to slam musicians who can't play very well.

then I heard this beautiful song, and thought WOW!!!
Damn...this is great. Cranked it up.
Very good song for John Mayer ....its great.
Hell I'd rather hear McCartney do something like this instead of his piano, concerto' stuff...or the Rutles.

So now, being your a damn good writer, and comparing this "John Mayer" to Ticket to Ride.
the Ticket to Ride cover did suck, the groove wasn't there and the timing sounded slow, and no backing vocals...RATE: forced and empty.
Maybe if I hadn't heard the original Ticket to Ride, 9 million times, it'd be different.
While this "JM" song had audio fullness, groove that meshed and flowed. A natural vocal in comparison to the forced Ticket tune... mix and playback sounded pretty damn good too. RATE: Fresh, Original, Flowing groove...made me turn it up.

Interesting and bizarre, both songs came from the same writer/HR person??
ain't that life in a bag.

well consider this... this john mayer song was for a contest and I wrote the music. I didn't write ticket to ride and it was just something I wanted to express (I learned the song and recorded all the instruments in about an hour for Ticket to Ride) because I was feeling down because of my girlfriend - it wasn't meant to be a quality recording for radio. I took my time with the john mayer song. recording and writing are two different beasts and I am definitely a musician and a writer, not a recording engineer.

I'd buy the JM right now. The way it is, its just refreshing and well done.
IMO but hey there's a lot of me's out there.

I just turned on my Radio, I heard a bout 85 commercials and 3 songs, none were as good as this one.

I'll bet you'll be getting phone calls, alright...as soon as more people hear it.

i loved it, awesome song, though most people didnt really like the drums, i thought they were well done. enough anyways. Cept for the part when it hits the cymbal. That kind of stuck out a tad too much with a little too much reverb or something. But everything else i though was really amazing. Keep up the work. It sounds amazing.

hey GRN....how do I get a couple copies of this?
I didn't see it on your links?

please post a link or whatever, how to purchase a couple copies.

I see Chaos Theory? but this ones not on the free samples? Is JM on Chaos Theory CD??

great other stuff....very original IMO. liked it all.

I'm not sure I understand you. JM was a private endeavour for a contest, Chaos Theory is a CD created by my band (although I did write all those songs and such). Chaos Theory is for sale, but the JM song isn't on any disc.

Yeah, I bought the Choas CD (website worked great btw.)

Wanted the JM tune also, but couldn't find it....
whens your next CD then, it'll include it?

lets get going, time is wasting.hehe

I'm having a rough time with my girlfriend right now, but I just need to do vocals for 1 and 1/2 songs and the next CD will be done. JM song won't be included (well it will be, but not as a main track - it will be available if you open the CD through your computer).
