well this post is probably going to fail because, i don't really know all the technical stuff about my computer. But anyways, i'm recording in REAPER, and when i export my song, it seems to be clipping at random parts. I only have 7 tracks so i'm not sure why its doing that..An observation i've made is that, i have a lot of effects on the tracks and this seems to slow down the playing time... as it will start skipping through the song. hope you can help

Clipping and skipping are two different things. Clipping is where the audio is too hot or too loud and hitting the maximum level. Skipping or stuttering or dropouts or glitches or whatevers... is where your computer can't keep up with the task at hand and stops playing the audio for a millisecond.

What problem are you experiencing?

Okay. So, like I said, it means your computer can't handle the task at hand, it's too busy. You need to lighten the load. This means killing other processes that is hoggin up your cpu time, like anti-virus. Disconnect from the internet. Anything else that is not necessary.

7 tracks is not a lot, even with a couple of plugs on each track, a Pentium 4 should keep up no problem. So, what else might be going on?? What kind of tracks are they?? Are you running any virtual instruments?? Anything with samples?? What about your hard drive?? Is it defragged?? So many things to look at that can solve your problem....

Here's an article on computer optimization....

Should help a bit....
