Since "upgrading" to WinXP I encounter two problems: Midi In (from keyboard to computer) randomly quits functioning. The only solution is to restart.

The other problem is that when I run Wave Profiler in Sonar 2 the computer crashes and restarts.

Any ideas for these two problems?

Pentium III, 500mhz, 327mb RAM

Strange... did you format your harddrive before installing XP?

And your computer specs is not the hottest in the world. WinXP demands some power (more than Win98 ;)) and Sonar 2 does too.

How did you come up with 327 MB RAM? If that's the count, then there must be something wrong...

XP crash

Yes, I reformatted.

My math is slightly off. I use a 64mb RAM chipset and 256mb RAM chipset. What's that... uh... 320mb RAM.

Yeah, I've been thinking it's time for a new computer. "Honey, can we talk about something...?"

What MIDI device are you using? The onboard?

Yes, but what do you use to get the MIDI into your computer?

Do you mean, MIDI cables? The MIDI enters the computer via MIDI cables

No, he means what do the cables plug into? Joystick port on sound card?

My guess is the problem is your computer. It just marginally meets the specs for Win XP.

It's above, but not alot:
-PC with 300 megahertz or higher processor clock speed recommended; 233 MHz minimum required (single or dual processor system);* Intel Pentium/Celeron family, or AMD K6/Athlon/Duron family, or compatible processor recommended
-128 megabytes (MB) of RAM or higher recommended (64 MB minimum supported; may limit performance and some features)
-1.5 gigabytes (GB) of available hard disk space*
-Super VGA (800 × 600) or higher-resolution video adapter and monitor

Well, yeah. Just as long as you don't plan on actually running any other software on it! It should run Windows fine.

:D
