Hello,
Has anyone encountered a problem upgrading Sonar using the downloads available on-line? When I attempt to upgrade to Sonar 1.0.2 or 1.3.1 I get an error message saying "unable to locate Sonar 1/Sonar 1 is installed incorrect please try reinstalling Sonar 1.0
I've tried reinstalling Sonar 1.0 and then atempted to upgrade but i still get the same message. I let Sonar install to it's default settings and tried my on custom configuration. In addition, I have gone so far as slicking my drive and reinstalling all my applications, and tried placing the 1.0.2 patch in the same folder as 1.0, on my desk top, on another drive, and have downloaded the upgrade patch at least twice. Whew! any suggestions????

I've upgraded recently to 1.31 and didn't have any problems. Sounds like you've done your share of trouble shooting. You should bite the bullet and call the Cakewalk hotline. Painful, but probably your best best.

Sorry I couldn't give you a better answer. But it's better than no reply at all, which is what I've been getting lately cause nobody can answer my questions.

Good luck!

Not sure if this is related to your problem, but the 1.3.1 will only upgrade versions 1.2 or 1.3. You can't upgrade 1.0 directly to 1.3.1.

However, it sounds like you can't even upgrade to 1.2.

Also, are you allowing it to install in the default directory?

Problem fixxxed!!!!

I was allowing it to load to it's default directory. A cakewalk rep got back to me with a solution. If you use the uninstall wizard to uninstall sonar or any program for that matter, apparently it doesn't remove all of the programs components from the windows registry. So when I went to install the upgrades there was some sort of conflict with what was in the registry. I removed all of the Sonar related program lines from the registry and the upgrades loaded with no problem. Don't you just love PC base recording. I have to admit in my short lived experience with PC based recording I have spent like 20% of my time troubleshooting PC hardware and software gripes. But when things are working properly I'am a lot more impressed with the options that software sequencers offer.
