Meeeennn, we shouldn't let any thread here without reply. Even if we don't have any idea what to reply (...eg. he didn't ask something, but we should reply to let him know his thread is paid attention ). :D

Nice info moskus... keep posting the info's...

;)

I didn't reply because I have nothing to say :)

Oh yes, and I don't have SONAR.

Yet.

What's in it for me?

I'm wondering if I really even need to download this.Sounds like just a patch to support different drivers that I don't even use.

The question is....with this Project Five thingy out, will there be Sonar 3 any time soon?
Or is this the end of the line?

I don't think I will get 'the big kick' out of Project 5. It looks like FruityLoops on speed, and that's not what I want. FL is so statick, but then again I haven't upgraded it since version 2.7, so maybe I should give it a try again...

I guess we will have Sonar 3 by August 4th. Anybody else wanna pick a date? :D

A couple of thoughts as to where Sonar may be going....

The thing is my plates pretty full already and I can't imagine what Cakewalk will offer that I may want.
Perhaps 5.1 support?If so I don't care.
Maybe better integration with video?Don't care again.
More plugins and soft synths? If so they had better be of better quality than the ones I have already. And if this is the case what will the CPU load be?

It seems to me that as processers get more powerful the code writers have to worry about resource usage less and less, leaving users with a double edged hit.......having not only to upgrade the software but the computer as well.

While I accept this as an eventuality,I sure hope it's worth my while.I've stated this many times before,Cakewalks effects pale in comparison to dedicated hardware. The only advantage being automation and multiple instances. This is one area where I believe they could really use some improvement and I'd be willing to ante up the cash for an upgrade.

I look forward for the ASIO support. I just want to test my ASIO drivers for the Inca88. I use them in Reason, but I mostly use Reason with Sonar via ReWire, so I really haven't tested the ASIO-drivers.

They could fix a few things, and add features.
Two that come to mind that are on-going requests floating around;
Fix the 'can't bounce to clips if you use groups', and add a group view that shows which ones are in use.
I'm sure there are tons others...

I'm in the mood for a update myself, thanks for the info.
Maybe it will fix something that i don't even know is broken yet

...Fruity on speed...hee hee:D

I would love to see a Sonar 3..... but most of my issues are small. (Like additional buttons to toggle muted or archived tracks on/off in track manager). I'd guess June 1st.

...October. That's my guess. ;) Remember the movies "The hunt for Red October" and U 571 ? they set around October...:)
BTW, I hope the third version also has more "toys". Like skinable, "view options" to switch between new aquatic view and old fashioned view... toys are fun & good beside those usefull improvement on working capabilities.

Only SONAR? No Homestudio?

Nope, sorry....

--------------

I heard something about a built-in wrapper in Sonar 2.2. Can somebody confirm this?

Sigh...as far as I'm concerned it's the same code (HS and SONAR). At least, that particular bit. What's the problem? Release an update! (I'm not screaming at you, Moskus :) )

Especially non professional users (iow: HS users) often have cheapo cards like the Audigy. They would all love to see their card work the way it was originally advertised.

I feel discriminated. :(

Seems like HS will never get any updates, except stupid XL addons. :(

I've sent a question about all this to Cakewalk support....still waiting.
