I use a BR-8 to record with now and by playing with the eq my cd loudness is ok. Would I get more volume when mixing down from Sonar direct to a cd than what I get now??

In digital, volume only goes to 0...so I guess the question is which way is easier to adjust levels. I personally think that in Sonar, being able to see wav files, and having multiple meters, you would be able to get a louder mix, but I'm not too familiar with the Boss unit.

dont know about the product ur talkin about
but with sonar if u have the know how and proper equipment ur levels could rival that of commercial CD's

well u need plugins or h/w called compressors and limiters to clipp the peaks so u can smush the volume all the way up to the peak of its headroom

cakewalk has compressors and limiters
they aren't that great so if u do that it'll prolly sound horrible

more expensive plugins such as wave L1 or L2 limiters do a good job of limiting

PSP vintage warmer is a good compressor w/harmonics gives a little body to the sound

sound of a good finalizer is probably marked by its transparency when smushing the hell out of the signal the waves L2 is prolly the most transparents on the market for native systems

they cost a lil bit but u pay for what u get :D
