Have you tried renaming the file to .bun? :D It's a longshot, I know...

Hey... I never thought about this "analog" way... I'll give it a try...

So far as I know, PA9 can not read Sonar files. This was discussed in pretty good depth on the Sonar newsgroup. Seems like many people want to share files with friends who still run PA9.

Considering all the new and different features built into Sonar, I can see where there would be problems in using them with PA9.

Of course, you can open PA9 files in Sonar.

As a workaround, you could export wave files that could be imported into a PA9 project. Depending on your needs either a single wave of the entire mix, to allow someone to add a new track. Or a wave for each individual track, if the receiver needed control over each track for some reason. (I know, I know, pretty tedious. But it is a way to still colaborate until the cheap bastard upgrades to Sonar. :) )

...hmmm, it doesn't work. How can TTS just miss this. They still support saving to .mid file, even format 0 & 1 but they mess with .wrk & .bun file. Ain't it too hurry to remove them in the "save as" options ? I hope soon Cakey support center will release patch to fix this issue... We ain't ready yet to move that fast.

I'll bet it won't happen! Cakewalk want you to update to Sonar, baby... ;)

James,
I agree that you won't be able to save a Sonar file to an earlier version, as you can with a lot of software. I think our friend from New Jersey has the right idea (as usual).
The export each track as a wav file method is not really that tedious. Here's a tip:

While in Sonar, slice all the tracks in the same spot timewise (like a second or two before any music starts). Delete the silence before. Export your audio.
When you bring your individual tracks back into your PA9 (or Cubase, or Pro-tools) project, they'll all start at the same time (in Sonar, it's wherever you have your cursor). Or, arm all your tracks and record a cowbell click or two at the beginning of each track before you export. Then zoom way in on the waveforms and line up the peaks after you import.

...Okay, thank's. I think it can be done by now. But it takes longer to do this. You know, sometime you have to pay studio charge... So efficiency wolud be decrease doing this way. Specially, when your time's up, and there's somebody else outside waiting for the next studio shift. I have to export them one by one instead of just pack it and burn it CD's. Thank's anyway. At least, I'm not the only one with this feeling here...
;)
