2 scenario's that I could use some help with:

1. I want to use the session drummer in sonar 3 but pipe the output to NI battery on another track and not hear the original. How do I do that?

2. I hook up a guitar(clean) and apply amplitube to the track. While recording I hear the clean guitar, during playback I hear the 'modified' guitar. How can I hear the guitar 'modified' during recording?

Thanks!

Thanks!

1. Render the Session Drummer to a midi track (Process > Apply Midi Effects). Then assign the output for the midi track to Battery.

2. You need to enable Input Monitoring. However, if your latency setting is too high, you may hear the modified guitar as an echo. You need to get your latency down to around 5ms or less.

You don't need to render the midi, but you can if it suits your way of working.
Load an instance of battery and then open session drummer.
There will be a "gear" icon on the session drummer pane.Click on this and you will get a settings menu.Chose the appropriate numbers for output and channel.
The advantage of doing it this way is that you can change your drum track around easier and even try out different patterns on the fly.
You can also save the settings as a preset.
Be forewarned though, the order in which you load synths into Sonar dictates the number of the output.

Also depending on your card you may want to mute the guitar input on the soundcards mixer, you won't hear your guitar until input monitoring is enabled.

Thanks guys for the great feedback.
After searching for over 1/2 hour I finally pulled out the manual and looked up input monitoring (input echo) and lo and behold there it was right in front of me on every frigging track!

Anyway, thanks for the advice.
