When I press a instrument in the Piano Roll I get no sound I have had SONAR for a little over 2 months and have found no real info to help me get started using it and I downloaded a cracked version does some one have a tutorial that can help me get started and get me over these early stepping stones

We don't take too kindly to crackers in these here parts...

The copy that i bought has a really nice manual included with it that explains everything. Seriously, you should get one for yourself. The software is incredibly useful and a lot easier to be productive with once you have a manual to help. I've found that mine is well worth the money I paid for it.

I don't know what's more stupid - you downloading Warez or actually admitting it on a chat forum!!

Don't you know most Warez has been hacked and usually contains the BackOrifice2k virus? I'm sure somebody is having a grand ol' time recording every keystroke you enter on that keyboard of yours!! I sure as hell hope you don't do online banking or buy anything off the net . If you do, you can kiss your CC and bank account numbers goodbye...

As for admitting you are using Warez, anybody reading this can report your post to the admin and he probably has no qualms whatsoever giving all your info to the FBI or some other anti software piracy organization.

Have a nice day!!

Guys,
C'mon, lighten up. I'll help out.
OK, to get started with Sonar do the following:

1. Make sure your system has AT LEAST a gig of EDO ram.
2. Use only a Soundblaster 16 as any full duplex soundcard will cause feedback.
3. Forget what you hear about operating systems. You NEED Linux for the best performance.
4. Disconnect all cooling fans. Sonar needs a hot signal.
5. Send me $500 and I'll get you a copy of the manual and a backup CD of the program.

Hope this helps.

Yeah, that'll help for sure. Riiiight. And monkeys might fly outta my....

Would that be Sonar XL, or just the standard version. Cause if it's just the standard version, I'm not sure it's such a good deal.

Now, OTOH, if it's Sonar Platinum Masters Edition ver 3.9, just let me know where to send the money.

ok, i'll assume that Heaven Cent is a kid and cut him some slack.

[although i a little ashamed for you that your handle has heaven, yet you are a thief]

you have to provide more information when you ask open ended questions like... i don't get any sound.

what PC are you using?

what soundcard are you using, or are you using an outboard keyboard with a midi card in the PC?

what do you have the bank, patch, port, and channel set to?

do some general research on midi, your particular sound module, and cakewalk.

but please do save up your money for an 'official' copy of Sonar.

i am a system architect and development manager for IBM, and would prefer for you to purchase the software you want to use, so that shmucks like me can pay our mortgage during this economic downturn.

It's not really about the piracy...

...because I think there are very few people even on this BBS who don't own some piece of pirated software, shareware they didn't pay for or a copied audio CD.
I think the thing that prompted my response was the fact that:
A. Anything he needs to know has already been posted in all probability, either here or at the Cakewalk site.
B. If he didn't want to spend the money, Homestudio 2002 has most of Sonar's features for cheaper. Worth it for the manual alone. "Sonar Power" is also a possibility. So is nTrack.

So I guess thieving and lazy is where I drew the line.

And if he's smart enough, he'll figure out that I just helped him.
