This is actually a question for a mate of mine. He is using an fairly old version of cakewalk sonar and whats to import audio samples. when he does they wont play, theres just silence. But i know the computer itself can play audio fine , its a brand new pc.

can anyone help?

Try posting at the Cakewalk forum...you may get better response.

Are they midi or wave?

Does this happen exclusively with the audio samples he's importing, or is he having problems playing back anything? His problem may be more specific than the problem I had with silence-where-there-should-be-sound in Sonar 3, but this may or may not help you:

Do you get signal showing in the level meters during playback?

- If so, Sonar's output is not making it to the sound card ... make sure the sound card's drivers are properly selected in the Sonar audio options, and that your tracks and master fader are routed correctly to the card's outputs.

- If not, you may have a mis-match in the sample rate of your project versus the sample rate of your sound card. It's kinda weird, you can open your project and mess around with it with a sample rate mismatch but no signal will be routed through the program, and definately not to your speakers.

Hope that helps, if not, cakewalk forums or you'll eventually get a response here.

yer i think its the second of the two to be honest - havent checked with him yet thou. cheers.
