Sonar history erased!

I closed a project and when I opened Sonar again I noticed the history option was grey (could not be selected) and there were no events that I could undo. I thought sonar kept the history for each project even after I close it. Is there any way I could retreive the history?

History is maintained for a session of SONAR, not in the files themselves. You can, for example, copy a chunk of audio from one file, then paste into another file, and paste it again and again, then undo all those steps... but once you shut down SONAR, those steps and the clipboard contents are gone. All Windows apps work this way.

That sucks big time. I thought the history was maintained for future changes!

Nope, never has been. Once you close SONAR the history is history.

The way you save things that you aren't sure about at the moment is to save tracks in their current state and then mute them or (better for performance if you have lots of extra tracks in different states) archive them.

Another CYA workaround is frequent 'Save Asses' (:D 'As')
It's not quite undo' but a path back. I do it (bare minimum) at the end of each session (date in the name) as the back up to the other drive, and any time things are the least bit questionable.

I do the same thing except I use filename, date and three digit number such as "001", "002" etc. This is because I might have several "save as" in one day.

Has really saved me on numerous occasions.
