hi all ok heres my problem, i just bought sonar 2.0 xl and im trying to write my drum tracks inside of sonar using piano roll. im using downloaded samples for my drums because they sound so much better than midi crap,do i have to bring my samples into sonar using insert wave file one at a time or is there some way to store them in sonar so i can use them without having to keep inserting. does anyone else use sonar to make drum tracks like this, i cant figure out fruity loops so i just dumped the whole program off my hardrive because i needed the disk space anyway.how would you go about writing drum tracks in sonar using wav samples. ive gott some good samples that sound realy real and i gott some loops to but that seems to be more complicated than just laying the drums in one beat at a time please help im lost thanks tim pate.

I wouldn't. Not the way you are doing it. Fire up a sampler. Since you got the XL version you got fxpansions DR-008. Take some time to get to know the program, as it's powerfull as hell...

or use cyclone. do you have any sort of midi input at your disposal?

i have my yamaha keyboard but i have never messed with midi, are the sounds real sounding. all the midi samples ive listened to sound realy cheap and the snare sounds more like a hihat. the drum samples i have collected when put together sound so real its awesome. so you would use midi? ive gotta get a midi cable then i dont even have one lol.thanks for all the responses guys tim pate.

you can use your keyboard to trigger the DR008 is where i was headed so you don't have to keep cuttin and pastin.

You can still program you beat by the Piano Roll if you want, but a MIDI-keyboard is recommended.

Yes, most standard midi-sounds is terrible! But you can, as erichenryus said, trigger the DR-008 (or any DXi) using MIDI.
Go "Insert -> DXi Synth -> DR-008" or "Insert -> DXi Synth -> Cyclone" in Sonar 2 XL.
