mixsit,

On the General Tab in Audio Options, as long as the Bit-Depth is set at 24 in Audio Driver Bit Depth, SONAR will export at that resolution.

Ok Mark, I see where you're going. So, if we're not completely burned out on this, just a few more...

Does the Audio Driver Bit Depth setting effect the internal processing depth? (as well as setting the export depth?) Isn't it 32 bit inside regardless?

If this is true, all that happened is that (as expected) adding processing on the 16 bit tracks resulted in files that were rendered to 24 bit precision. Chopping them to 16 sounded worse, but if you had been able to apply the UV22HR in the sonar 16 bit export, you would have ended up in the same place.
The 'Upward conversion' thing threw me.
There was no upward conversion. Just some export and dither options.
(Right?:D :D :D
(Sort of right?
or..
(Go back to school kid!

No. 32 is default.

Yes.

Yeah, technically. (have to try that...wonder if I could import it via plug-in manager?)

Well...yes, there was. I also exported (the 16-Bit project) as a 24-Bit .wav. SONAR adds 8 Bits to the word, in this process (which grabs a lot of the ambience of real time FX.)

Mmm. My point was only that, that export was simply the full-precision version of the 16 bit + processing.
In otherwords, the tag 'Sixteen-bit project' would seem to now be obsolete once everything in the project has grown to 24.
Otherwise it would only be adding a stack of zeros at the bottom, no?
