So i finally got all my mobile recording system complete just before christmas, happy me :D

But, after a recording the drums from our band practice last night, i found when playing back that Sonar had, in every song, decided to drop about a second of audio, like it just didn't happen, on all 8 channels.

I doubt its my equipment so i'm pointing the finger straight at sonar on this one.

If anyones had the same problems then please let me know how to rectify it as its going to put all my hard earned money and equipment to no use at all!!!

Did the audio waves suddenly stop at a certain point, or does it just keep dropping out at a certain point?

If it's the actual audio files, it's your equipment. Maybe something had a loose plug.

If it keeps dropping out at a certain point, then it's most likely the CPU usage or Disk usage. Your computer may not be able to handle a lot of tracks.

Its none of those. CPU load doesn't go above 5% and if it was the disc then it would be intermitent through the whole track rather than just at an identical point on all 8 tracks, just once on every take, roughly between 1-2minutes in i'd say.

Its as if its just cropped a second out, like it never happened, all stays in perfect sync afterwards.

Need to know a lot more info...

Computer specs (including specifics such as firewire chipset, etc).
Soundcard / interface info and details of setup, i.e. drivers / buffers / settings.

Laptop AMD x2 2.4ghz, 3gb ram, XP sp3, Lexiocon Ionix U82S. Running Sonar 8 producer edition.

I've set up the asio so its slower rather than faster cause latency isn't an issue when recording. The I/O buffers i had set from high to low through out the night so it wasn't that as it has done it on all the settings.

Right, i've just been on the sonar site and there was a few updates i hadn't been informed of. I was on 8.02 and i've upgraded to 8.3.

It 'seems' to not be doing it, but i won't be able to check it fully untill next practice, which is only saturday :D

I'll keep you posted, but if anyone has any other similar experiences i'd be happy to hear.

Cheers everyone.
