Hello to all, Just started messing around with a few things in sonar and went to (tools) drag and drop drummer. It goes through this thing about loading loops but when I try to view the loops everything is greyed out. Does this sound like something didn't load properly? Do I have to have the sonar disk in the cd rom? What's going on here?

Well from what I'm reading there should have been a (lite) version with sonar. You don't get everything but your suppose to get some of them. I have an old Alesis HR-16, but so far I have been using Band in a box for drums. I'm still kinda new to this and was experamenting. Also I just found out my tutorials airn't all there. and what is there don't play. I think I should delete cw9 pro audio and sonar and reinstall everything. Also would you know, originally I had FX1, FX2 and FX3. When I installed sonar they told me to uninstall fx1 and fx2 and 3 also. I think I mad a mistake there.

Flash,

The loops are on the CD-ROM. So if it's not in the drive, the names of the loops are greyed out.

AlChuck, is it CD1 or CD2. and is there no way to copy them to the hard drive?

you know something, i just looked for drag and drop drummer in sonar under the tools tab and didnt see it there.
is it listed under tools?
and sorry for any mis-information i may have given you, as i said in my post, i dont use it anymore. especially since i got the
DR-770

i am running version 1.3.1
what version are you running?

I'm running ver. 1.3.1 also, I'm not at home right now but I'm sure it was in tools. Last night I uninstalled CWPA9 and Sonar. Tonight I'm going to just install Sonar. Hopefully that will solve the problem. I just hope that since it's called an upgrade, I don't have to have CWPA9 installed. Anyone know?????I know in the instructions it said not to put it in the same directory as CWPA9 that way they said you could remove CWPA9 after a while if you wanted more disc room.

you shouldn't CWPA9 on your hard drive...just the serial number...
or it might prompt you for the cd on installation (that's how adobe does it now) i'm really not sure, though.

if you hit a snag, i'm sure cakewalk support can help you out.

Sorry, my copy of Drag and Drop Drummer was purchased, from the Pro Audio 9 days, so the CD I put in is the Drag and Drop Drummer CD.

Drag and Drop Drummer has a different name now -- it's called Smart Loops, and with SONAR XL they include something called "Smart Loops sampler." From the description it sounds like it might be just a sample set of loops, without the DDD tool.

For more info check out http://www.smartloops.com/DDD_page.htm

Hey guys, just talked to cakewalk tech. support. They told me I didn't have to have CWPA9 installed but they did recommend it. Also, the drag and drop drummer that was on CWPA9 still works in Sonar but you have to put the CWPA9 disc in. If I remember right I really didn't like it that much either, maybe that's why I didn't remember I had to put that disc in. Is anyone out there just running Sonar, that use to have earlier ver.'s????? Or do you recommend I leave CWPA9 installed?

Recommend it? Why? There's no need to leave Cakewalk Pro Audio installed... certainly not to use Drag and Drop Drummer... and I think it might be actively dangerous if you try to install it after SONAR is already installed...

Ya, I was hoping that. Do you use midi and audio? and what about the wmd drivers? are you using win98 or xp? Actually I started another thread kinda about this....
