I have Sonar 1.0 and my Problem is this: There is a built-in soundcard on my motherboard, and there is a sound card that I installed (Creative Live Drive II). The Live Drive II works fine, its just that Sonar will not recognize it. Sonar only recognizes the motherboard sound card that I don't use. I've already run the Wave Profiler sevral times and it only gets the motherboard soundcard. I'm really anxious to record so any help would be greatly appriciated. Thanks!

go look for 'WDM Drivers' for your better sound card.

Sonar can handle WDM. (assuming you're using windows 2000 or XP)

Also, are you sure you don't have the option to pick your soundcard in the configuration menus??? Double check.

If all else fails ... then do this:

When your computer boots up, go to the BIOS Menu (a.k.a CMOS) by pressing ESC or DELETE.

Go find out how to disable the built-in audio. The option is there! (Assuming you didn't by a Gateway or something silly like that)

After this, boot up windows and go reconfigure your Sonar.

Good luck.

What tvaillan told you is most likely the problem. If one of your sound cards has WDM drivers installed and the other doesn't, Sonar will only recognize the card with the WDM drivers.

For a short term fix, you can go into Options - Audio - Adanced and click the checkbox that says to Always Use MME Interface. This should get both sound cards working withing Sonar; however, your latency will be somewhat increased (which may or may not be a problem for you).

Once you have located and installed WDM drivers for your Live Card, you can uncheck this box and return to using the WDM drivers.

Depending on the OS you are using, the OS itself might have WDM drivers available for the Live Card.
