SONAR and BOSS Dr5 Rythm Machine

I am trying to record from my DR5 into Cakewalk.

I am trying to find out how to sync the start of recording and have it start the DR5 when I start recording.

I have been able to record the DR5 via MIDI but I cannot get the start to sync with the start of recording.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Your project must be set to the correct tempo
The DR5 must be set to slave
The midi channel/device ID settings must be the same for both the DR5 and the coresponding midi track
Cakewalk(version?)should be set to send,start/continue/ stop messages and time code under options.
