Got the 2000 pre-release drivers - Aark manager shows everything working well, with the exception of a nice "pop" that shows up in the software playback monitor. I don't have a monitor hooked up yet and haven't been able to get Sonar to recognize the damn card, so I don't know if it's a problem yet or not.

I'm using a Abit KT7 with AMD Duron 800, VIA VT8363 chipset. I've never installed any of the included motherboard drivers.

Anyways...I loaded Cakewalk Sonar and Sonar won't recognize the Q10. What gives? Where do I start?

I was going to reply to your email and ask if you got everything working right. The pre-release drivers still don't work all the way right for me.

The card doesn't show up as an option in the control panel, sounds/multimedia tab for me. It is available in Vegas, but not Sound Forge...

Are you running XP or Win2k?

Whoohoo.

OK, so I went ahead and loaded Cakewalk 9 thinking there was probably something wrong with the warez copy of Sonar that I had.

Within about 20 minutes of dinking around, I had recorded two tracks and the results are brilliant. My one remaining problem is a slight tick, but some tweaking will probably take care of that.

I also just tried my Marshall JMP-1's speaker emulators, plugged right into the Q10. Phenominal, but sounds a little dry compared to a mic'd 4x12 cab.

The SE Electronics 2000 sounds warm and accurate compared to the rest of my dimestore mics. Can't beat it for the price, I guess.

Just need to figure out the Sonar and ticking problems, and I'll be good to go.

I'm kind of new to digital recording, but I'm a UNIX admin kiddie, so I have half a clue. I feel so freed up compared to using my reel-to-reel. That deck is soon to be for sale, if anyone has a soft spot for vintage analog equipment. It's a TEAC [pre-tascam] 3340S 1/4" 4 track, with MATCHING TEAC 5 Tascam series 20 channel mixer [w/ 5EX]. I only have 12 channel modules installed.
