I don't use either of these, but I am thinking of going with them as long as I have a grasp on what I'm getting into. I'm hoping that someone with experience with these two software packages can let me know if I'm on the right track. -- I have no experience with MIDI but it seems to me with the feature called "piano roll" in SONAR I can basically step-program the MIDI to control the Drumkit From Hell samples (or any other midi driven instrument/sampler). So I won't have to worry about any external MIDI controller or being able to play real-time drums on a keyboard (YIKES) right? I'm finding some comments on these things around the board but it's always kinda vague. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance

yup that's basically the jist of it...

i use sonar as my host but i decided to go with reason insted of drunkit from hell. i have the reason drum kits refill and it sounds awsome. If you are determined to go with a vsti (thats what drumkit from hell is) have you considered BFD by Fxpansion? i have heard some good things about their package.

that is right about the midi programming though. it can be tedious but the results (in my opinion) dominate drum loops. haveing a simple midi controller would be a plus but it is not completely necessary, it just helps speed things up a bit.

Thanks! Especially for the superfast reply!
I have heard of BFD but it seems I've heard more people rave about the realism and sound of DFH. I will have to check into it though. Thanks again.
