does anyone think that the multiband compressor is good for mastering or do other packages have something special

This is the bit where everyone jumps in and says "Use WAVES!!!!" with lots of smileys and dollar symbols......

By "mastering" if you mean "turning up all the sound levels and doing some basic EQ balancing so it doesn't sound too shitty on the car radio" - then yes, by all means use it or something similar.

I like iZotope Ozone because I am a cheap bastard.

mastering

I find the ultrafunk multiband compressor to be quite usable for mastering stereo tracks if not overdone. However, my favorite multiband compressor is the PSP Vintage Warmer which came with 2.2xl. I can patch it across the outputs of CD Architect 5, and it brings the levels up to commercial CD levels without artifacts or coloration. I find this plug in to be worth its weight in gold, although it goes for much less money than Waves plug ins.
