Hi all, VeeBee here, just found your forum through the Sound on Sound forum. Looks to be an interesting place to be.

Firstly, I have not loaded my 3.1 update patch, I did load the first one but then Sonar 3 developed a problem where, when running about 10 audio tracks and about 5-6 soft synths, with up to 8-9 plugins, ans intermittant problem would sometime arise, when I press Play, the system would stutter and eventialy overload the cpu and stop. I have the latest drivers for my card, I have been running the same i/o buffer size, mixing latency, and buffers in queue on Sonar 2.2xl without any issue and this developed after I loaded the first update patch so I uninstalled Sonar 3 and re-installed, but ......its not as bad as it was but IT STILL DOES IT FROM TIME TO TIME....ALSO can anyone tell me why my Audio engine defaults to OFF when I open a new file. Didnt do it when I first installed Sonar 3.

why don't you install the sonar 3.1 patch and see if the problem still occurs? the patch is supposed to fix like 300 problems maybe thats one of them.

Hi Teacher,
Thank you for your reply, yeah that is the next thing I intend doing, just did not get around to it yet. It's a pretty hefty download at 20mb and as I dont have the internet on my music pc, it means downloading to another pc and transferring it to my music pc, I will let you know if it does fix this bug.

What's your sound card? Maybe the drivers need updating? Does increasing the buffer help at all?

And is your machine a P4? I remember mention of the patches changing how multi-threading works in Sonar (which might explain the CPU usage...)

Hi Skalathill,
Ta for your reply, yeah my sound card drivers are fine, I updated them just recently and it made no difference. My soundcard is an Echo Gina 24 and I have just downloaded the latest driver from the internet.
I do intend loading the 3.1 patch update as soon as I can get it from my home pc to my music pc.
Cheers,
VeeBee
