Special announcement: FREE SONAR 3.1 update coming this December 31st

We are pleased to announce that the SONAR 3.1 update will be available for download on December 31st. Registered SONAR 3 customers can download the update for FREE. We have included many new features plus the return of the Play List. Here are some of the key additions for the 3.1 release:

HyperThreading/multi-processor optimization—SONAR’s audio engine distributes mixing tasks across multiple CPU's when using multi-processor PCs
Support for any sample rate, with presets for most common sample rates—you can now set SONAR’s project sample rate to any sample rate supported by your hardware. For sample rates not supported by presets simply type in any value supported by your audio device, e.g., 88.2kHz, 176.4kHz, 192kHz, 384kHz, etc
High-quality sample rate conversion when importing and exporting audio—SONAR now utilizes the ultra high-quality Windowed Sinc resampler algorithm
Placeholders for missing plug-ins—if any plug-ins are detected as missing when loading a project, SONAR will create a temporary "placeholder" plug-in. This allows you to edit projects without losing any references to missing plug-ins, and SONAR will automatically load missing plug-ins the next time they are detected as being installed
Adjustable EQ Plot Resolution: Auto (default), +/-6 ,+/-12 ,+/-18 via the Plot Show/Hide button in the Console view
Increased tempo range—maximum tempo has been increased to 1000 BPM
Play List view has been restored to SONAR 3
Reset All Meters command (will clear all meter clips and reset all numeric peak values in all views simultaneously for all meters)
"Fit Tracks to Window" and “Fit Project to Window" commands now work in Bus pane when it is the active view
All toolbars can now be shown/hidden via key bindings
StudioMix control surface plug-in

Please visit www.cakewalk.com on December 31st for more information on downloading the 3.1 update.

I just recieved this Email from Cakewalk:

"Initially targeted for 12/31/03, the release of the SONAR 3.1 Update has now been delayed until next week. Cakewalk has opted to include a couple of important bug fixes that were discovered at the last minute. We appreciate your patience and understanding for wanting to provide you with an even more stable release. Registered SONAR 3 customers will be able to download the update for FREE on January 6th. The 3.1 Update includes over 100 bug fixes, new features plus the return of the Play List. We will send out an email next week once the update is live."

Wait... over 100 bug fixes??? OVER HUNDRED??? Three months released??? They didn't even bite me one...

Lets hope they will offer .dll patch update instead of adding new lines on the .exe file. It's over 20 megs already...

I purchased Sonar 3 over the holidays, did not have a chance to register it yet. Ours is for a recording studio we have built in a practice room in the bandroom of our district's high school. Start 'em young!

Our computer is a stand alone unit to avoid the networking of all computers with the tech guy and all the staff. I spoke with the tech guy and in time he can run a line to get us connected online, but at this point...I'll have to download the upgrades that fix the bugs (evidently 100 bugs...?? holy smokes) on to my system at home, burn it to a cd, and then install and fix Sonar 3 on the system at school.

According to the announcement I received at home via email from Cakewalk, the upgrade will be available to registered owners on the 6th of January. I am hoping this free upgrade will be available for awhile since I have yet to register it officially? IN fact, I haven't had a chance to even download it into the system yet.

I tried to ask this on the Cakewalk.com site, but the tech support requires the serial numbers and such which I don't have access to at this time.

ok.

now i'll upgrade from Sonar2.

i got my arse burned from buying the M-Audio Duo on first release, and vowed to never do that again.

100 bugs.

probably 5 app killers, 20 app glitches, and 75 annoying performance decreasers that would never actually kill the app, but would over time turn your project to soup.

75% of which they knew about when they released 3.0.

I'm also going to get the upgrade to Magix Samplitude Master.

ps. bloozguy, the download will be available forever and a day. 12Tones is very good about that sort of thing. Unlike SEKD/Magix.

good to hear...

thanks Crosstudio....good to hear....

The thing I'd like to know is... where do you get these e-mails? I registered Sonar 3 and I don't get any notification saying that a new patch is coming out soon???
