YES!!!!!

This fall is gonna be an interessting one! :D :D :D :D

I just have to get the Producer Edition! :D :D :D :D

I wanna know how much the upgrade is! Gimme gimme gimme

Oh baby. Looks live we have got a winner. Man, I'm scared how much that producer edition upgrade is going to be. That's a lot of goodies. Lexicon verb? ....drool.

Disaster!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am sure I will have to upgrade my PC if I am going to have some of this! And I am sure I just have to have some of this! Now how do I start to pursuade she who must at least be consulted...

OK, question time:

Firstly, where did this "news" come from? Source, please.

New mixing environment, completely redesigned UI

But I like the UI as it is! I mean, there are a few things that could be improved, but why would they want to completely redesign it, and make us all learn a new one?

real-time gapless editing

Cool.

Universal Bus Architecture

V cool, if it means what I think it does.

VST Support

Now, hmm. Are we talking, you load up your VST effect or VSTI and it works, just like Cubase, Nuendo etc? Or does this simply mean that the wrapper will be included? The wrapper's good, but not quite as good as real, completely transparent VST support.

That's why I want a source, so we can go look for details.

confidence recording

Meaning??? !!!

MIDI Groove Clips

YEAH!!!

Sounds good, but depends how good it sounds, if you get my meaning.

Ultrafunk Sonitus:fx Suite - The critically acclaimed Ultrafunk Sonitus:fx suite of automatable audio effects: compressor, delay, equalizer (parametric), gate, modulator, multiband (compressor), phase, reverb, surround, wahwah.

Certainly had some rave reviews round here.

VSampler 3.0 DXi & Sample Library - Powerful DXi digital sampler that offers extensive editing capabilities matched by extreme ease-of-use and support for industry standard sampling formats including Gigasampler, AKAI, SoundFonts, HALion, and more.

Wow! Can it import the more advanced aspects of these formats, such as Gigastudio keyswitching etc?

Lexicon Reverb - Need we say more?

Please do. There are Lexicon Reverbs and Lexicon Reverbs.

My two cents....

SONAR 3 offers a complete software-based production environment that extends your customers' creativity with intuitive controls that capture and enhance their inspiration, and precise tools for accurate, effective real-time editing.
Marketing hype, except for the real time editing this paragraph is meaningless
New mixing environment, completely redesigned UI,
Well I really liked the old interface,is this change for the better or for the sake of change?
real-time gapless editing, Universal Bus Architecture, VST Support,
Great,this is meaningful
confidence recording,
Ummm......what??????
MIDI Groove Clips, advanced MIDI routing & synth layering, multi-port MTC transmission
Midi groove clips?!I've been trying to figure out how to do this.I hope it works as well as the audio groove clips
full plug-in delay compensation
?????????
and more.
I'm a sucker for this feature, okay how much $$$ and where do I pay for it?

Per-track EQs - Channel EQ is a 6-band parametric equalizer with 5 filter types
So what's the CPU hit?I agree with Wurlitzers statement...
Sounds good, but depends how good it sounds, if you get my meaning.
I'm not a real big EQ'er so for me personally this does'nt mean much.

More effects?
If they're good bring em' on.Simply putting the Lexicon name on software is'nt going to make a sale for me.
V-sampler
Well I just bought Kompakt,so this is useless.
What kind of sound library does it come with?Does it support HUGE samples?

I'm probably going to get the upgrade to 3,I'll wait on the price for the producer edition. There's a lot of stuff in it that I've already got.Unless the plugs are clearly betterthere's not much I'm interested in.

Damn straight !!! Spot on, Guy...

If this is legit, I'm going for Producer.. I just hope there is a button on the channel strip (you will have to use console view now I'm guessing) that turns the EQ/other features on and off.. ie saving some CPU on non EQ'ed channels.

AW, can you please confirm weather this is legit info?

The coolest features I see are the plug-in delay compensation (this is GREAT) and the real-time editing.
If VST is implemented correctly it will be cool.
Wonder what Lexicon that will be. I'll bet it doesnt quite hit the mark.
Not sure exactly Universal Buss Architecture is. Learn me if you know.
A new interface could be cool if I dont have to totally relearn my way around and its a better more effecient layout. There will be two groups on this one, those that hate it and those that love it.

Confidence recording is a plug-in made by SonicArt Musicplex, Inc., a division of AudioSpectronic AudioVisual AudioMetrix (or ASAVAM for short), that takes any input signal, say a guitar that you miced, and you open the guitar preset and it will make it sound like you recorded it with a $5,000 signal chain by a pro engineer in a great room. I've used it and its amazing, revolutionary, the best thing I have ever seen. It doesnt model the sound, it just FIXES it. It fixes almost anything you screw up in recording. Got the overheads out of phase? Pull up the overhead preset and suddenly everything is tight and in huge stereo. What a great plug-in, truly amazing.

Ok, I made that last shit up.
Where is this info, by the way?

Well there's one of my questions answered:

VST support provided through the Cakewalk VST Adapter - the best VST adapter available today

and another:

Confidence recording ¾ real-time display of audio waveforms, MIDI data, automation during recording

Sounds good, but I wonder how the PC will cope with the extra graphics load on top or its recording duties.

I have to admit most of the rest is just re-advertising features that we already have in Sonar 2. It better be a cheap upgrade.

The 'Producer' upgrade from XL2 ain't TOO much of a shocker. And it looks like the 'chanel eq' is UltraFunk?
Looks good so far.
:D
