Anyone have any ideas why i can get no sound when playing back audio. I get the following message drivers do not support hte current audio format or are in use by another application. at the moment i only have the basic sound card which came with the computer and am running windows xp. i think the sound card is a sis7012 wave. thanks for any tips dave.

The error-message you get says it all, really... Hmm, see if Options -> Audio -> Samplerate is set to "44100" and File Bit Depth is set to 16. If it is, try other settings (but it is unlikely that they'll work :( ).

And of course: Are you running another application? Maybe your drivers doesen't allow just Sonar to use them. Is "Options -> Audio -> Advanced -> Share Drivers with other Programs" checked?

Sorry to say, but perhaps the soundcard just isn't up to the job. Even a Soundblaster would do better...

Good luck! :)

Try going into Options > Audio > Advanced and check off the check box for Always Use MME Interface. See if that helps.

The other thing you might want to look for is the Driver and the File bit depth setting (Options > Audio > General). Both most likely need to be set to 16 bits with an onboard sound card, since it would be unlikely to support 24 bits. If they are set to something other than 16, reset to 16 and reprofile the sound card. Then exit and reopen Sonar.

Also, In Options>Audio>drivers, what inputs and outputs are listed AND highlighted?
