Hey, I'm new to this software sequencer stuff so please be kind! My latency slider is fully to the left but indicates 92.9 ms, which seems to be a little high given my system. What can I do to decrease it closer to 0 ms?

Thanks in advance.

System: P4 2.53 GHz, Asus P4PE MB, 512 MB DDR333, Maxtor 80 GB Harddisk (7200), M-Audio Delta 44, Midisport 2X2, Behringer UB1204FX Mixer, Roland GR33, Windows XP Pro, Sonar 2.2XL.

Are you using the WDM or ASIO drivers?

If not, you should be.

If you are, go into the Delta control panel and lower the DMA buffer size setting. The go back to Sonar and reprofile your sound card.

Your machine 2.5 GHz, Asus board and most of it looks like my setup. And I have the same problem. I lowered buffers (you have to do that in the Delta Audio software), reran wave profiler and then manually lowered latency to 2.9 mSec.

Didn't work.

I need at least 10 times that to run without crackles or drop out. So now I am waiting for Sonar 3 before I invest any major efforts in getting latency down. But in the meantime, if you succeed, tell us about how in this thread.

I'm using the M-Audio drivers - which are WDM (afaik). I'll try what you're suggesting with the Delta CP and get back to soon. Thanks for the help!

The M-Audio drivers contain a complete set of drivers within them - MME, WDM and ASIO. You have to specify in Sonar which ones you want to use (Options > Audio > Advanced > Driver Mode).

dachay2tnr:

That was exactly what I needed to do. The latency is now close to 1 ms.

Many thanks!

Me too!

I tried this and it's the best working latency I have got so far. Around 2.9 msec. Don't know if I overlooked this choice of WDM in Sonar 2, just got Sonar 3 today.

Anyway I can now get a vocal with reverb in the monitor from plugin while recording. But basically it is a dry signal, so that I can adjust the amount and type of reverb later on. Only, I am also getting the original direct signal to the monitor. Is there a way with Delta 66 to turn of the direct signal so that I am just getting what I am recording with added effects?
