People...

Why is it that the following (from the Help files), never seems to work:

Every time you start SONAR, a new, empty project is displayed. If you want, you can determine the settings for this default project by creating and saving a special template file, called normal.cwt. If you create or update the normal.cwt file, SONAR will display this template automatically when the program is started.
I open the program...add audio tracks & remove MIDI tracks from the default empty project to create a normal template of my own liking...save it as normal.cwt...

...but then the next time I open the program...the same old empty project is displayed.

What am I missing?

Thanks,

Couple of things.

First, you need to save it to your Sonar directory. If you just do a "save as," Sonar saves it to the location you have set up for your "per project" files.

Second, I found I had to save the file as normal.tpl rather than cwt.

Third, for some reason when I save the file as normal.tpl it shows up in the Sonar directory as normal.cwp. I can't figure out why it does this. It does this despite the fact that I asked to save it as normal.tpl. However, if you go into Windows Explorer and rename the file to normal.tpl it seems to work as advertised.

Nope...

That doesn't work...it still reverts back.

Thanks anyway,

You have to do a "save as", and save it into Sonar's sample content folder, when saving you'll get a message asking if you wish to overwrite the existing file, hit yes.

I always save as Normal.cwt to do this.

(Sonar 2.2 XL)

That was it, Strryder !!!

That's the correct folder...now when the program opens MY template comes up (named SONAR 1...same as the default Normal template.)
I had been saving the revised template in the Program folder (C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\SONAR 2)...'cause there's a Normal.cwt file in there, also.

(Now that I think about it...I wonder what that one's for...since the progam utilizes the one in the Sample Content folder ???)

Thanks again,
