One Hit Wonder
Based on just a couple hours of fooling around - here's my initial take on 2.0.

If you're into DXi Synths, maybe you will love this upgrade. There seems to be quite a few new toys in the area of synths - including a synth rack, Cyclone and Revalver. Up 'til now I haven't done very much with synths, so I'm not seeing much here for me.

The drum mapper is neat and looks like it will be a handy tool. And of course the new file system is long overdue. But in hindsight I probably would have waited for 3.0. I do mostly straight audio work, and that part of the program appears to be exactly the same.

YMMV, and maybe after I've spent more time with it I might change my mind. It certainly is not the quantum leap that PA9 to Sonar 1.0 was. In fact, I'm not sure I would have called this 2.0. Seems more like a 1.4 to me.

of course, if they'd called it '1.4', they couldn't charge the $80.

the slicy drummer plug in is kinda neat.

your right i think its a rip off. it should have been free update
just another way for then to make money in this slow
economy.

Definitely worth it...

The new version is much more efficient. I have been able to lower latency, and am getting more plugs through the new audio engine.

I haven't delved into the improved drum controls yet, but its certainly going to help making drum progamming easier.

The control surface support is another feature I have been wanting for some time.

Have you even used 2.0 yet? Do you like any of the new features?

I gladly shelled out the $79 the additions pretty much wiped out what I percieved as the flaws in S1.
The question for me now becomes what are the remaining flaws or will anything else just be iceing on the cake(walk)?

your right there were plenty of flaws in that( NEW) program
why pay for the update that fixes them???

If you're so worried about the $80, maybe you should have gone with something else like N-Tracks. It costs even less than the Sonar upgrade.
