in sonar XL 1, does anyone make seperate folders for each song they make so that WAV files arent all over the place?
if so, how do you do it? and does this happen automatically in sonar 2?
i tried using the clean audio disk option and it brought up lots and lots of files. but for some reason, it doesnt let me delete them.
i already did a search on this topic and it didnt help.

i would recommend upgrading to Sonar2 if for no other reason than the file folders thing.

having said that... theoretically you could do the following.

THIS IS THEORETICAL... I HAVE NEVER, EVER TRIED THIS... EVER!!!

create WaveData and PictureCache folders underneath a folder you are going to use for your new song.

open Sonar1 and point to those two folders in the audio options.

then create a new file and save it under the afformentioned folder

d:/my_songs
d:/my_songs/newsong
d:/my_songs/newsong/newsong.wrk
d:/my_songs/newsong/wavedata
d:/my_songs/newsong/picture cache

man is that a lot of trouble. why not just create BUN files until you upgrade?

i thought it would be a bit easier than that. that seems alot of work to go through every time to create a new song. i may have to do the upgrade.
but if i dont use any midi, do you think just plain old sonar 2 will do? isnt the "XL" more for midi "extras"?

i've got regular Sonar2 and i use midi.

both my sound module and my drum machine/sampler are connected via midi along with a fatar sl880 keyboard that i use a a midi controller.

unless you need the compressor, eq, and that particular DXi i wouldn't bother with sonar2xl.

what directx dynamics processing do you currently use?

The new file system in 2.0 ( I do have XL) has made my life so much easier. Especially the "Clean Audio Folder" option!
Work overtime.

well, actually,im just learning how to use all of that crap. (EQ,compressor and DXI software synths.). it was like they didnt exist for me. i just kind of discovered them about a week or 2 ago. and ive had the XL for about a year.
Im like a neanderthal using SONAR XL . its like i dont deserve to have XL. rubbing sticks together to light the fire while theres a lighter in my pocket.
i only record audio. but i noticed that when i save a project, is gets saved as a "normal" file.
could this be the reason why when i run "clean audio disk" in sonar, it finds "billions" of files and wont let me delete any of them?
should i be saving them as a different type of file so that ill be able to delete the garbage parts later?

and hey sluice.....
you sound like my boss with the work overtime comment.
