(Somewhat!) progressive rock.

So...I got a band together two weeks ago. We wrote and practiced this one song over 3 sessions. We recorded this over two days...Drums one day, bass and guitar the next. It's kinda sloppy since our drummer wasn't used to playing the song to a click and we are all out of practice on our instruments.

We used an SM57 on the kick, some random dynamic cardioid mic on the snare, and MXL990s for overheads. This mix is pretty close to what we've got now, except for minor changes in volume of some instruments and some overall EQ to bring up the high mids. Guitars and bass were direct. No vocals YET. I'll do those soon.

the track is on MySpace and it's kinda...Compressed and scratchy. But it'll still give you a good idea.

The next time we record, we'll use more than four microphones on the drum kit and I'll have a compressor on the kick and snare. My po little Behringer mixer ain't too hot.

Pretty heavy. Great riff. I find the drums can come up, but I'm a drummer so take that for what it's worth. Very coool arrangement. Drummer don't seem to have problems with the click to me. I love all the different parts of this tune and it's nice to hear people that can PLAY. Nice!!!
 
Thank you very much! I like it too, and I am one of those guys that hates most of the music he writes. I am having problems with the drums being...Well, very dynamic and this being like...A demo precursor dealie to what we'll record later and me being lazy on the guitar. But I think I agree, they could be a liiittle louder. I'll make that adjustment.

This is a pretty cool song. I really like all the parts. I'd consider it progressive rock of one sort or another. It's got a couple of rough spots, but you already know that. For a first whack at it you guys did well.

When does the album come out? :)

We're gonna record a 4 song demo as soon as...Well, we have four songs written and tuned up a bit...And album...Some time next year once I have my Firepod and some monitors.

Timing sounds good.

Guitars could use more definition.
The drum could use more air. The entire track would benefit from more air.
The bass sound slightly rumbly.

The guitar bit around 3:00 - 3:20 is rockin'.
Nice bass playing.

Overall nice performance. Doesn't sound out of practice.
 
Sounds like a good song, great guitar pregression. The sound really is dreadful - whether it's Myspace or my place I can't tell.
